Rabbi Avinoam Cohen
A Bar Mitzvah tutor for 15 years, I've guided hundreds of children toward their big day - from kids who love to read to kids who find it very stressful.
My approach: no pressure, no mechanical memorization - just understanding, a personal connection to the text, and confidence built lesson by lesson.

Getting acquainted
We get to know the child, their learning pace, and the target date - then build a personal plan.
Learning the Torah & Haftarah portions
Reading, cantillation, and melody - at a comfortable pace, without unnecessary pressure.
Speech practice
Working on the speech, confidence in front of an audience, and repeated practice.
Full rehearsal
Two weeks before the event - a complete run-through as if it were the day itself.
Bar Mitzvah day
The child steps up confident, prepared, and proud - and the parents get to enjoy the moment.

FAQ
What parents ask
From what age should we start preparing?
Usually about a year before the Bar Mitzvah day, around age 12. You can start earlier for an especially relaxed pace, or later if the child reads fluently. Use the calculator above to see exactly how long you have.
How long does the preparation take?
In most cases 3-4 months of a weekly lesson. The pace is set by the child - the amount of reading, the starting level, and how much time there is until the event. Together we build a realistic, pleasant plan.
Where do the lessons take place?
Wherever suits you - at your home, at mine, or on Zoom. Many of my students learn remotely with full success, from anywhere in the country.
What if the child struggles with reading Hebrew?
That's exactly my place. I work with children from every starting point, including those who find reading challenging. We start slow, build confidence, and reach the big day prepared and calm.
Do you teach the speech too?
Yes. Beyond the Torah and Haftarah reading, we work on the speech, on public speaking, and on confidence - so the child steps up proud and fully prepared.
And what about Bat Mitzvah?
Gladly. I also guide girls toward their Bat Mitzvah - learning, a speech, and emotional preparation, with full personal tailoring.
